The Green Pet-Burial Society (GPBS) has reached an important milestone. Family Spirals®, the nonprofit organization that hosts GPBS, is now an independent 501(c)(3) charity registered with the IRS.

This new chapter makes it easier for people, businesses, and foundations to support our work as we expand education, advocacy, and whole-family ecocemeteries that honor both families and the natural world (see below).

Here are some additional developments:

  • New articles coming soon. We’ll soon be writing about recent breakthroughs in transporting a pet’s remains back home by air and encouraging developments in Brazil’s embrace of whole-family cemeteries. If you haven’t already, be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss these and future updates.
  • Gabriel Yuri joins our Arts League. Architect, designer, and photographer Gabriel Yuri—whose work has been featured in Architectural Digest—is collaborating with us on Spaces for Living Beings, a new initiative exploring how our homes and shared environments can enrich the lives of people and the animals who live with us.
  • New art and film at the Center for Families & Animals™.
    • Contemporary artist Hope Gangloff has generously granted permission for two of her paintings—Beauty and the Beasts and Moolog, Dad and Kieve—to be added to our Contemporary Gallery.
    • We’ve also featured Serge Avédikian’s award-winning animated short, Barking Island, about the 1910 deportation of thousands of dogs from Constantinople, in the Short Film Gallery.
    • We hope you’ll also take a few moments to explore our growing galleries of art, film, and other resources exploring different aspects of our relationships with various animals and the natural world.

There are now several new ways to support GPBS:

  • Workplace giving
  • Employer matching gifts
  • Donor Advised Funds (DAFs)
  • Vehicle donations
  • Business sponsorships

Visit our Family Spirals Giving with Purpose page to learn more about these and other ways to support GPBS.

As always, thanks to everyone who has encouraged, supported, and shared in our vision of a more compassionate world for people, other animals, and this Earth we all call home.

With gratitude,
Eric Greene
Founder & President
